Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday wrote to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, seeking cadre protection for Punjab in Chandigarh and his intervention to ensure that the fine balance in sharing of resources and officials in the Union Territory between the states of Punjab and Haryana is not allowed to be disturbed.

The Chief Minister also urged the Home Minister to resolve the pending territorial dispute and restore Chandigarh to Punjab, being its legitimate original capital

Chandigarh, Punjab’s industrial investments have received a massive boost in the first quarter of the current fiscal, with project proposals going up 50% and monthly average of actual investments increasing by 125% over Q1 of FY2017-18.

The whopping increase has come at the back of the massive industrial push by the Captain Amarinder Singh led government, and the ease of business resulting from the new industrial policy, according to an official spokesperson.

Made by Dr Jitendra Jain, ADGP - SOG Training, the movie captures the pain and misery resulting from drug abuse by tracing the adverse effects of addiction on the family life, health and financial position of the drug victims. It sends out a strong message against drug abuse through an emotional song written by Dr. Jain.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday hailed the newly-trained SOG Commandos as a critical engine to boost the state’s preparedness in countering terror in the transformed scenario, which had made the earlier SWAT irrelevant, and promised his government’s full support to further strengthen the new unit.

Interacting with the trainee Special Operations Group (SOG) commandos at the Commando Training Centre here, the Chief Minister said the use of non-conventional means of warfare by terrorists and militants had necessitated the transformation of the state’s counter-terror apparatus.

Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has urged External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to take all possible steps to ensure the safety, security and well-being of Sikhs settled in Afghanistan.

In a letter to Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday, he expressed concern at the recent bombings in Kabul, besides the earlier series of terror attacks in Afghanistan, that had left many Sikh families adversely affected.

Chandigarh, Punjab Police arrested a priest and self-styled healer from the Delhi international airport following a complaint from a woman in Zirakpur that he had raped her, said an official on Thursday.

Zirakpur station house officer (SHO) Pawan Kumar said the priest, Bajinder Singh, was nabbed from the Delhi airport as he was about to board a flight for London where he was scheduled to attend a healing event on July 21

Chandigarh, Prompted by the success in curtailing fertiliser usage in the kharif crops, 'Tandarust Punjab Mission' will now focus on restraining the usage of urea, a senior functionary said on Tuesday.

The usage of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser in the kharif crops has come down by 29 per cent.

Mission Director K.S. Pannu said a strategy of "awareness, motivation and compliance" would be adopted to make farmers aware of the bad effects of excessive use of urea in kharif crops.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday discussed a series of measures with the Netherlands ambassador to India for promotion of farm diversification in the state.Dairy, animal husbandry and floriculture were some of the key areas in which the two sides agreed to explore cooperation, along with promotion of piggery and goatery, an official spokesperson disclosed after a luncheon meeting between the Chief Minister and a Dutch delegation, led by Ambassador Alphonsus Stoelinga.

Chandigarh, Giving a further fillip to its development agenda, the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government on Monday released Rs. 469 crore towards pending payments for various schemes and development projects, besides clearing the entire pendency of VAT/GST refunds in the state treasury.

The funds released today relate to the Local Government and Education departments, as well as pending Social Security Pensions.
