PU DLIS Concluded Webinar Series during lockdown

Chandigarh-The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised webinar series from April 24-29, 2020 on the theme ‘Information generation, dissemination and use during covid-19 lockdown’. In five webinars, five talks of experts were hosted through cisco webex app. Prof. Preeti Mahajan, Chairperson welcomed the guests and participants and highlighted the importance of the webinar series. Prof. Raj Kumar, worthy Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh presided over the fifth webinar today and congratulated the department for successfully hosting the series of webinars for intellectual health of the society and country at large during the present pendemic period. Prof. Roshan Lal Raina, an alumnus of the department and currently the Vice Chancellor of JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur was the key note speaker. He talked on the “Changing role of Library Information Professionals in the knowledge cycle” and emphasised that the library professionals must work in partnership with their users and stakeholders and provide innovative services in all circumstances. He also urged that the Departments of Library and Information Science to sensitize their students not only with domain knowledge but also with innovative technology skills and other related competencies. Prof. H. N. Prasad, Vice Chancellor, Nalanda Open University, Bihar and Prof. S.P.Singh, Professor Emeritus, University of Delhi, were the special invitees in today’s webinar. Prof. Mahajan thanked all the speakers as well as the participants. She also requested them to ‘Stay Home Stay Safe’ and utilize the time in information generation, dissemination and use. All the webinars were heavily attended and today’s webinar was attended by 134 participants from all over the country.
