A seminar on “Religious Response towards the Environment is organized

The office of the Commission for Religious Harmony, Catholic Church, Chandigarh under the patronage of Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Mascarenhas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese organized a seminar on “Religious Response towards the Environment; A call to Care and Protect our Common Home” in view of His Holiness Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter, “Laudato Si’ (Praise be to You) on 4th April 2017 at 10.am at St. Anne’s School Auditorium, Sector 32 C, Chandigarh.
The Seminar was adorned with many Religious leaders and Governmental delegates, educational institutions of the Tri-city and the well-wishers. The speakers of the day: Swami Satyeshananda, Secretary to Ramakrishna Mission, Dr. Mohamed Habib, Department of Religious Study, Patiala, Dr. Balwinder Kaur Sidhu, Prof. Punjabi University Regional Center, Bhatinda and Rev. Fr. Angelus Antony, Rector, St. Joseph’s College and Mr. Anil Sarwal, Associate Prof. English DAV, Chandigarh, the observer raised their serious concerns and voices to protect and care our Common Home, the Mother Earth.

The esteemed presence of Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal IAS, Chairman of Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala (Chief Guest) and Mr. Santhosh Kumar IFS, Director of Environment, Chandigarh have enthused the gathering with their breathtaking message to care for the Mother Earth. On this auspicious occasion the commission has honoured the environmentalists: Mrs. Supreet Kaur, EcoSikh India President, Ravneet Singh, South Asia Project Manager for Echo Sikh , Baba Triveni, Bhiwani and Rev.Fr. Dominic Bosco for Manav Vikas Samiti for their service to the protection of the eco-system. Fr. Ivin Thomas, the Director of Commission for Religious Harmony has meticulously planned the programme of the day.
