Two days Faculty Development program commenced at Shemrock School

Two day Creya Professional Development Program organised at Shemrock School Sector -69 .The key note speaker at the moment were Janhavi Melinkeri and Dorothy Saikiafrom . While speaking at the moment they informed that Creya is creativity in action it is a STEM programme which involves Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and digital media. Upgrading it now Arts has been introduced and the new version STEAM is in process. The three pedagogies were experiential learning, inquiry based circle, the design circle. These fields are deeply intertwined in the real world.

Stem is an interdisciplinary and applied approach which is coupled with hands-on, problem-based learning. The level of difficulty progresses with each class, as per syllabus, from catapults, aero-modelling, contraption building, to robotic programming. Later , An indepth training was given on how to implement them within the class. The training was also aimed to get hands on robotics and different aspects of digital media introduced in its curriculum.

While speaking at the moment Director Education S K Sharma that the Stem Education is designed to expose students to science and technology from a young age and to develop inclination towards these subjects using inquiry methods and to develop problem solving skills. This programme helps to draw real world connections to the workforce and community. Stem projects also provide self-directed, challenge-based learning rather than simply absorbing and regurgitating facts. He further informed that STEM is an acronym used originally by the US government to describe fields of study that helped immigrants get work visas: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
