"The  SAD-BJP government has changed the face of Punjab in all spheres especially in terms of sports by creating a culture and environment most conducive to sports which has put the state well on course to become a sports power house." Stating this here today at multipurpose stadium while declaring the 6th World Cup Kabaddi closed , the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that kabaddi occupied the prime focus in his scheme of things as it is the traditional and mother game of all Punjabis.

He also said that this time around 14 teams participated in the kabaddi cup, next time he would ensure the participation of more than 20 teams . Divulging more, he said that the state government has initiated Kabaddi League and furthermore soon enough Punjab Kabaddi Cup would be organized which would give further filip to kabaddi in the state.

Coming to the developmental plank, the Deputy Chief Minister said that he has endeavored to do maximum for the Jalalabad region and would do even better in future. He also said that this world kabaddi cup has brought Jalalabad on the world map. He promised to continue this success saga in future also.

He also felicitated the winners and runners-up teams of India- both men and women section, England in men section and United States of America in women section respectively.

Meanwhile, after fifteen days of extensive sporting activity the sixth Edition of World Kabaddi Cup came to an end. The Closing ceremony of sixth Edition of World Kabaddi Cup was started with the third runners up matches after which the final for women and men section were held. Likewise, clips depicting the history of all six world cup kabaddi editions and the theme song of Kabaddi made the sports lovers tap their feet. The impressive entertainment session amused the thousands of spectators with dancing, laser show performance and fireworks. Famous Punjabi singers Mr. KulwinderBilla, Ms. Harshdeep Kaur, Mr. BabbalRai, Mr. Jassi Gill and Ms. SatinderSatti also gave impressive performances by presenting their famous tracks. Similarly, comedians Mr.JaswinderBhalla and Mr.BalMukand Sharma had the audience into splits of laughter.

Prominent among others present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jiyani, MLA Mr.Gurtej Singh Ghuriana, Special Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister - Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Director Sports Mr. Rahul Gupta, Chairman Mr. Tejinder Singh Middukhera, OSD to the Deputy Chief Minister -Satinderjit Singh Manta, Akali leader Mr.Vardev Singh Nonny Mann, Inspector General ofPolice Mr.SK Asthana, Deputy Inspector General of PoliceMr.RS Khatra, Deputy Commissioner IshaKalia and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr.NarinderBhargav.
