Chandigarh, - Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today extended warm greetings to the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Sri Krishna Janamashtami - the Birthday of Lord Sri Krishna.
In his message on the eve of Sri Krishna Janamashtami, the Chief Minister said the festival, which is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and religious fervour, teaches people to live in peace and harmony.
Captain Amarinder said that Lord Sri Krishna was an apostle of peace, saviour of Dharma and symbol of truthfulness and righteousness. He said that the sermons of Lord Sri Krishna contained in 'Srimad Bhagwad Geeta' have a profound impact on the present materialistic society.
The teachings of Lord Krishna are extremely relevant in the present times to attain eternal peace on the one hand and strengthen the bonds of love, peace, harmony and brotherhood on the other.
Captain Amarinder exhorted the people to celebrate Sri Krishna Janamashtami with gaiety, rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion, and called upon them to follow the path shown by Lord Sri Krishna to achieve divine bliss and prosperity in life.
