State procures 99 percent of the total wheat arrival in the mandis of punjab

Out of the total of 122.76 LMT wheat arrival in the various mandis across the State by 7th May , 99% of the arrival has been purchased including 122.24 LMT by Government Agencies and 51802 MT by private traders, informed an official spokesman of government of Punjab. This year there has been nearly 6.50 LMT greater arrival than last year on the corresponding date, he added.

Amongst the State Procuring Agencies, PUNGRAIN is leading with a total procurement of 28.35 LMT followed by MARKFED with 26.89 LMT. PUNSUP has purchased 23.60 LMT while PSWC has purchased 16.66 LMT and Punjab Agro has purchased 12.16 LMT of wheat. Centre Government Agency, FCI has purchased 14.57 LMT of the wheat sold in the mandis state-wide.

It may be observed that on the same date last year, the total wheat procurement was 116.19 LMT including 26.33 LMT by PUNGRAIN, 23.68 LMT by MARKFED and 21.72 LMT by PUNSUP.

The spokesman further informed that more than 105.77 LMT of the wheat procured by government agencies has been lifted and Rs. 17488 crore which amounts to 94% of the payments, has been released to the farmers through the commission agents of the state.
