Global Green Ambassador for Urban Forestation

Dr. Meera Asmi, born in August 1978, is a Passionpreneur, Solution Architect for start-ups,

Happiness Cultivator, Corporate Trainer, Author, Orator, and Eventer from God's own Country: Kerala. She is a Post Graduate in Management, specialised in Human Resources. She has completed the course work leading to the Fellowship Programme in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 2010. She has more than 19 years of work experience and is presently working for the Government of Kerala as a Consultant to Government in the Centre for Management Development and is undertaking Research and Consultancy for policy implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in all states Union Territories in India.
She is the Kerala State Chapter of the Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI). She is the Chairwoman and Global Green Ambassador of We Grow Forest Foundation, a non-profit organisation working for urban forestry and reforestation in India. She is also the Global Ambassador of the Council of International Chambers of Commerce, Kosovo. She is also the Secretary- Kerala Chapter of Research Foundation of India and Faculty Member of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Through her organisation, We Grow Forest Foundation, Dr. Meera aims to introduce sustainable forestry methods in cities by developing different forest types as per the people's needs. These include zodiac parks, fruit tree forests, native tree parks, community forests, avenue plantations, butterfly gardens, eco-friendly parks, and so on. As a part of Urban Forestry, she creates green offices and green coworking spaces in the cities. Through We Grow Forest Foundation, Dr. Meera Asmi promotes digitalisation and has co-created a digital platform, Virtual Name Connect as their digital initiative. As a pioneering initiative, she and her core team envisage no-print culture through digital products such as digital business cards, digital directories, and digital biodatas, thereby minimising deforestation and reducing carbon footprints.
Dr. Meera was awarded Honorary Doctorate in Women Empowerment and Rural Development from International Peace University – Germany in April 2019. She was honored with International Social Innovator Award 2019 in the 4th International NGO and CSR Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand, in June 2019. She was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Samaj Ratna Award in India for valuable contribution to Women Empowerment & National Integration, May 2019. She got National NGO Excellence Award for Old Age Care 2019 in the 4th National NGO & CSR Summit Hyderabad, India, in February 2019.

She is a dedicated Social Innovator working for the empowerment of women, child development, and aged care in and around Kerala. Empowerment of women is enhanced by creating Self Help Groups of women who emerge as successful and influential entrepreneurs for sustainable living, which paves the way for economic and social development. As a team effort, she coordinates in providing outdoor education for children living in poverty, slums, and rural parts of Kerala. This directly impacts the financial enrichment of their household, which turns to pool up the community's economic strength Panchayath as a whole.
Dr. Meera Asmi is indulged in many charitable activities, from Geriatric Care Homes to revitalising women and children's lives. She works with a vision to bring about a fundamental shift in the way communities behave and to empower women and youth to take charge of their lives and build stronger communities.
Every year, as a team, she coordinates with State Government to organize various medical and social awareness campaigns, educate people about the safe and hygienic environment and sanitation, and empowers women and children to react and safeguard themselves against abuses and violence. She collaborates with the State Literacy Mission and imparts education to the underprivileged and the aged, and helps them realize their rights and privileges.
