Chandigarh- Punjab has achieved a historic milestone on June 29 by successfully meeting its all-time highest ever peak demand of 16089 MW, surpassing the previous record of 15933 MW set on June 19, 2024. Punjab Power and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that this remarkable feat demonstrates the state's robust power infrastructure and efficient management.

In a press release issued here, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO stated, "Punjab has consistently witnessed high peak demand during the second half of June 2024, ranging from 15000 MW to 15800 MW, significantly higher than the corresponding period last year." Notably, on June 26, 2024, Punjab met its all-time highest ever power demand of 3563 LUs in a single day, exceeding the previous record of 3427 LUs set on September 9, 2023.

The Power Minister attributed this success to the proactive measures taken by PSPCL, resulting in a 28% increase in power demand met in June 2024 compared to the same period last year (7464 MUs till June 26, 2024, versus 5853 MUs till June 26, 2023). Similarly, in May 2024, PSPCL supplied 7231 MUs, a 37% increase from 5270 MUs in May 2023.

Minister Harbhajan Singh emphasized that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has achieved this remarkable feat without imposing any power cuts on domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers, while also ensuring maximum AP supply to agricultural consumers in the state.
