Educational Tour to Heritage Street, Partition Museum

Amritsar-The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) organized “An Educational Tour to Heritage Street & Partition Museum for its students.

The programme was planned and executed under the supervision of Dr. Mehal Singh (Principal and Programme Chairman) and Dr. A. K Kahlon (Dean, Head and Programme Director) and Dr. Ajay Sehgal (Incharge, BSc. Hons. Travel & Tourism Sem-I). The objective of the programme was to acquaint the students with the most unique reserves of India’s colonial history which is preserved at the Partition Museum at Town Hall Amritsar that is still quite underrated as a tourist spot. The museum was created by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT), is a part of the Heritage Street in Amritsar.

Dr. Mehal Singh said these historical places have collection of tales, memories, works of art, and artefacts that serve as a record of the period leading up to, during, and following the division of British India.

Dr. Kahlon inspired the students for this educational tour to Partition Museum, Jallianwala Bagh which is a tribute to the victims of the bloodiest migration of the 20th century. Dr. Ajay Sehgal highlighted that such tours are most significant for the students as they get opportunity to understand the antiquity of such historical places

A group of students from Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College for women (SGTBCW), Amritsar alongwith Prof. Jagdeep Kaur, Prof. Parmodma Gupta and Prof. Saloni meanwhile paid obeisance at Golden Temple on the eve of Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Granth Sahib to seek the blessings of Gurus. They sought blessings of Almighty at Akaal Takhat and Gurudwara Thara Sahib. The group was in high spirits on their return to the College said Principal Nanak Singh. It was memorable day for the students with sweet memories to cherish, said he.
