Rohtak- Senior BJP leader and former MP Mr. Ashok Tanwar, on Sunday, addressed the media persons at the BJP election center in Rohtak, speaking about Congress' anti-Dalit policies. Present at the press conference were Haryana BJP media in-charge Arvind Saini, BJP media co-in-charge Ashok Chhabra, Shamsher Khadak, Sandeep Azad, social media in-charge Arun Yadav
and other dignitaries. Mr. Tanwar said that in the past 10 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has united the country and given it a new direction. He further mentioned that during his recent speech in Kurukshetra, Modi reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Haryana has been continuously developing. As long as BJP is in power, Congress' anti-Dalit plans will never be successful, he added.

Mr. Tanwar took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s anti-reservation remarks made during his visit to the U.S., and said that it’s concerning that whenever he goes abroad, his focus shifts to damaging India’s image. Tanwar added that even former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had stated that reservations would lower the quality of government services. Today, if there’s a backlog in Scheduled Caste appointments, it’s because of this Congress mindset, he remarked.

Mr. Tanwar assured that as long as the BJP’s central leadership and its workers are active, there can be discussions on improving the implementation of reservations, but there will be no talk of abolishing it. He said that the BJP’s goal is to uplift economically and socially marginalized and oppressed people.

Criticizing the anti-Dalit policies of the Congress government under Bhupinder Singh Hooda from 2004 to 2014, Mr.Tanwar mentioned that every 18 hours during their 10-year rule, there was an incident of atrocity against Dalits, with incidents like Gohana and Mirchpur being prime examples. Dalits were not allowed to worship saints, and if a groom sat on a horse for his wedding, he would be shot at. There were also countless incidents of sexual assaults on women. He added that during the 10 years of Congress rule, Haryana became a symbol of oppression against Dalits. In 2011-12, the situation was so bad that even the Supreme Court had to take notice of the violence, while the Congress government of the state ignored it. He asserted that the Congress party still holds the same mentality and its leaders are shedding crocodile tears while pretending to care for Dalit interests.

Commenting on the treatment of Kumari Selja by the Congress, Mr. Tanwar said it is evident how Congress mistreated those from the Dalit community who dreamed of becoming Chief Minister. Within Congress, only one family dominates, leaving no space for self-respecting workers. He questioned why no Congress leader spoke out against the abusive language used for Kumari Selja or condemned it. Tanwar accused the Congress of snubbing its dedicated and hardworking members, always prioritizing certain families and individuals with a feudal mindset. Even during ticket allocation, caste and nepotism were prioritized, he added.

Mr. Tanwar said that in Haryana, the state government always aligns with the central government, and considering this, the people of Haryana will once again elect a BJP government and will not fall for the false promises of the Congress.
