Chandigarh - Government procurement of Kharif crops in Haryana is being done smoothly at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) fixed by the Government of India. Timely payment to farmers is being ensured for crop purchase. So far 47.44 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis, out of which 45, 76, 822 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured. Besides this, so far 4, 42, 759 metric tonnes of millet (bajra) has arrived in various mandis, out of which 4, 33, 021 metric tonnes has been procured at MSP. An amount of more than Rs 9810 crore has been sent directly to the bank accounts of paddy and millet growing farmers. This includes Rs 8880 crore for paddy procurement and Rs 930 crore for millet procurement.
Sharing more details in this regard a spokesperson of the Food and Supplies Department said that farmers are not facing any kind of problem during the procurement process. Continuous and timely lifting of paddy from the mandis is also being ensured. The department has also provided the facility of online gate pass so that farmers do not have to wait unnecessarily to enter the mandis to sell the crop.
The spokesperson said that the government is giving a MSP of Rs 2, 300 per quintal for normal paddy and Rs 2, 320 per quintal for grade-A paddy. All senior officers are keeping a close watch on the entire procurement process.
The spokesperson said that till now the maximum purchase of 966195 metric tonnes of paddy has been done in Kurukshetra. Beside this, 809770 metric tons of paddy has been purchased in Karnal, 790245 metric tons in Kaithal, 513324 metric tons in Ambala, 512587 metric tons in Yamunanagar, 489196 metric tons in Fatehabad, 172051 metric tons in Jind, 145232 metric tons in Sirsa and 76889 metric tons in Panchkula.
The spokesperson said that 1, 08, 494 metric tons of millet (bajra) has been purchased in various mandis of Mahendragarh district. Similarly, 95, 449 metric tons of millet has been purchased in Rewari district, 69175 metric tons in Bhiwani, 35946 metric tons in Charkhi Dadri and 35923 metric tons in Gurugram.
