BPSC Reschedules 70th Combined Competitive Examination in Patna for January 4

Kaumimarg Bureau / IANS | December 20, 2024 12:00 PM

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that the 70th Combined Competitive Examination, which was canceled at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna on December 13 due to disruptions, will now take place on January 4, 2025.

A notification issued by the Examination Controller's office on December 19 emphasized the rescheduling was to ensure a fair and smooth process for candidates.

Background of Cancellation
On December 13, chaos erupted at the Bapu Examination Centre in Kumhrar, with allegations of paper leaks and delays in distributing question papers. This led to a commotion among candidates, forcing BPSC to cancel the exam at this specific center.

Approximately 12, 000 candidates were assigned to this center, but only 5, 500 submitted their OMR sheets before the cancellation. While the exam was conducted at 912 centers across Bihar, disruptions occurred only at this venue.

Legal Actions and Arrest
Following the incident, a complaint filed by the duty magistrate resulted in police registering a case against 50 to 60 unidentified individuals. Patna police made a breakthrough with the arrest of Manish Kumar from Supaul district, suspected of causing disturbances.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Atulesh Jha confirmed that missing question papers and an Android phone were recovered from Manish Kumar after reviewing CCTV footage from the examination center.

Instructions for Candidates
Candidates affected by the cancellation are advised to monitor official updates from BPSC and prepare accordingly for the rescheduled date. This step underscores BPSC’s commitment to upholding fairness and integrity in the examination process.
