Chandigarh - Demanding investigation by an independent agency into the unfortunate incident of vandalizing of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Statue followed by an attempt to burn the stone sculpture of the Constitution in Amritsar on the Republic Day, a delegation of senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab today met Governor Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, here at Chandigarh.
BJP leaders apprised the Governor that this incident was part of a larger conspiracy to incite unrest and deepen communal divides in Punjab. So, it is of utmost necessity to uncover the real motives & masterminds behind this shameful act and find out the individuals involved, including those who may have orchestrated it for political motives.
Justifying the investigation by an independent agency, not under the control of the Punjab Govt, BJP leaders clearly said that the spot was just 100 meters away from the police station, which still happened. There is strong apprehension that the said deplorable incident could not have happened without the involvement of the state machinery and the involvement of the ruling AAP government of Punjab.
The delegation comprised of ex-cabinet minister Punjab Manoranjan Kalia, ex-union minister Som Prakash, ex-MP Sushil Rinku, BJP Punjab’s core group member Kewal Dhillon; General secretary Anil Sarin; Vice President Fateh Jang Bajwa, Mohinder Kaur Josh; Secretary Renu Kashyap; State General Secretaries of BJP SC Morcha Punjab Jasbir Singh Mehraj & Hardeep Singh Gill; Spokesperson SS Channi; Sate Convenor Legal Cell NK Verma and State Media Head Vineet Joshi.
