Amritsar-At least 155 students of graduate and post-graduate classes were awarded degrees at Khalsa College Chawinda Devi (KCCD) today during the institution's annual convocation. Khalsa University (KU)’s Pro-Chancellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said during his convocation address that the main aim of the education is nurturing discipline and truthfulness amongst individuals.
Quoting verses from Gurbani, Chhina said that apart from enabling the students to choose their livelihood, the education helps one an all to lead a life of self-control and becoming law-abiding citizens. “The short-cuts in life lead us nowhere. We must imbibe good spirits to live a meaningful life”, said he while congratulating the students on getting the degrees.
Chhina also said that we should not forget our rich cultural heritage and must work with dedication and respect laws wherever we live. KU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh who was guest of honour also said that with degrees one major phase of life is over for boys and girls but the next phase begins which will be more challenging and full of struggles. He also encouraged the students to follow the path of righteousness and honesty to succeed in life.Earlier Principal Gurdev Singh while welcoming the guest, read the College’s progress report and cited the achievements of the students and faculty in the arena of academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. He thanked the management for the overall growth and progress of the College and how their students were making strides in various fields of education.
