Annual Convocation held at Khalsa College Women

Amritsar-The education for women is the tool to empower them and apart from traditional education, the main objective of education should be to focus upon the skill development. The above statement was made by Khalsa University Pro-Chancellor and Honorary Secretary of Khalsa College Governing Council Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, who was the chief guest at the annual convocation of Khalsa College for Women today. As many as 710 girls students were awarded degrees at the convocation.

Chhina, while congratulating the degree holders said that society can become aware only when women are educated, because the role of women is important in the progress of society and every person. He said that the education of daughters is their real dowry and education gives daughters respect and dignity in their parents, in-laws and society. Therefore, education is necessary for every girl. He said that a revolutionary change is coming in the present times. He said that if a boy is educated, he himself gets, educated, but if a girl is educated, not only the entire family but also the society is educated.

On this occasion, Chhina shared examples of successful women with the students and said that women should feel proud of themselves by excelling in the field of self-employment.

On this occasion, Khalsa University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mehal Singh said that one stage of life ends and another begins, a new challenge emerges. He said that getting a degree is not the end of the struggle of life, the real etiquette of living life and ethics has begun from today with a new challenge. He motivated the students to fulfill their goals with true and far-sighted thinking for future progress and to bring glory to the institution, parents and the country.

He also emphasized on the students to highlight their identity in life by pursuing professional education. Taking a deep look at the growing and expanding place of women in society from a historical and social point of view, he said that although women are occupying high positions today, they still have to face hundreds of challenges for their

Vice President of the Governing Council Swiinder Singh Kathunangal, Dr. Mehal Singh, Academic Dean of Khalsa University, Dr. Surinder Kaur, awarded degrees to students of Arts, Science, Computer Science, Fashion Designing, Commerce at post-graduation and graduation levels. Apart from this, 7 teachers who completed their Ph. D. degree and 2 teachers were honored with the Best Teacher Award and Best Researcher Award. Along with this, the books of the sponsored seminar and the College Research General Sagacity book were released.

Earlier, Dr. Surinder Kaur warmly welcomed the guests and presented the annual report of the college and mentioned in detail the achievements and activities achieved by the institution in various fields.
