Ludhiana- Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal addressed thousands of youth and students in Ludhiana today during the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ oath-taking ceremony. He emphasized the need for urgent collective action against drug abuse, urging the youth to take responsibility for Punjab’s future.
Addressing the massive gathering, Arvind Kejriwal said, “It fills my heart with joy to see so many youngsters here today. The future of Punjab lies in your hands. Among you are Punjab's future Chief Ministers, Ministers, MLAs, and successful entrepreneurs. You are the ones who will build a new Punjab. However, the drug menace spreading rapidly across households threatens our state’s future. If we do not eradicate this problem together, who will safeguard Punjab?”
Kejriwal strongly criticized previous governments, blaming them for allowing the drug trade to flourish for their own gains. “The past governments destroyed an entire generation of Punjab’s youth just for some money and political gains. They allowed drugs to infiltrate every village, street, and household. God will never forgive them for the sins they have committed against Punjab, ” he declared.
Highlighting the work done by the AAP government in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal assured the public that the state’s fight against drugs was now being led by an honest and patriotic administration. “We cannot be bought, nor can we be intimidated. The work you are witnessing in Punjab over the past month is unprecedented in India’s 75-year history. The palatial homes of drug lords, built with money earned from selling drugs, are now being demolished by bulldozers. This is our warning—anyone involved in the drug trade will not be spared.”
He also praised the Punjab Police for its relentless efforts in tackling the issue, but stressed that fighting the drug menace requires a joint effort from the government, law enforcement, and citizens.
Kejriwal made an emotional appeal to the youth, urging them to stay away from drugs and bad company. “Every parent dreams of a bright future for their children, and you, too, have dreams for yourselves. But the moment you get entangled in drugs or bad influences, your entire world collapses. Your dreams shatter, your family breaks apart, and the pain your parents go through is unimaginable.”
“As your elder brother and as someone of your father’s age, I fold my hands and beg you—do not fall into this trap. Stay away from drugs and bad company, or you will ruin your future, ” he implored.
Reaffirming AAP’s commitment to tackling drug addiction, Kejriwal highlighted the various initiatives being undertaken, Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centers, Helpline for Reporting Drug Peddlers and Strengthening Community Vigilance. The Punjab government is actively setting up de-addiction centers to help those struggling with addiction. Kejriwal added, “If you see someone using drugs, help them get treatment. There is no greater good than helping someone break free from addiction. If you know about drug sales in your area, call the helpline provided by the government. Your identity will be kept confidential.” This fight is not just the responsibility of the police or the government. Every citizen must take charge. We must ensure that no one dares to sell drugs in our villages and neighborhoods, said AAP Convenor.
At the event, thousands of attendees took an oath alongside Kejriwal, pledging: To never consume drugs, To help others quit drugs, To report any drug-related activities in their locality.
“This is a war to save Punjab, and you are its warriors, ” Kejriwal said. “Punjab has always been known for its strength, resilience, and unity. Together, we will eradicate drugs from our land and restore the pride of Punjab.”
Kejriwal also announced major initiatives to create a positive environment for youth development, the government is working tirelessly to ensure quality education and job creation for Punjab’s youth. Every village and locality will have well-equipped sports grounds and facilities to encourage youth participation in sports instead of drugs. Cultural activities will also be promoted.
Concluding his speech, Kejriwal called for collective cooperation from the people of Punjab. “The government is doing everything possible for you, but we need your support. If we all stand together, I have no doubt that God will bless our efforts, and we will build a ‘Rangla Punjab’ once again.”
