Amritsar- Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, the officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, today visited the home of the affected Sikh family in Kang village, Tarn Taran district, where a young Sikh woman, Gurpreet Kaur, was brutally murdered in broad daylight while she was reciting Gurbani. Jathedar Gargajj met with the woman’s family members and children and shared in their grief.
On this occasion, the Jathedar sat with the family to recite Gurbani and himself offered prayers to the Karta Purakh, asking for strength for the family to accept His will, for the departed soul to find rest at His feet, and for the family to be blessed with high spirit (Chardi Kala). He assured the family of full support from Sri Akal Takht Sahib at every level in the pursuit of justice.
The Jathedar raised serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, stating that the government has completely failed to protect its citizens. He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of its people and acknowledged the family’s immense pain. He also urged peace-loving people to come forward and support the family in their quest for justice.
He appealed to the villagers and the broader society of Punjab to stay vigilant and to unite against criminal and mischievous elements in their neighbourhood.
The grieving family informed the Jathedar that even after three days have passed, the police have yet to arrest the culprits involved in the murder. Jathedar Gargajj strictly asked the Punjab Government to immediately arrest the accused persons and bring them to justice with the strictest punishment according to the law. He stated that the entire Khalsa Panth stands with the family and demanded that the government act swiftly to restrain such criminals who roam openly in society.
Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj remarked that Punjab has always protected its children and women, even in the worst of times, but such a change in the state—where a daughter is murdered while reciting Gurbani—is unprecedented. He called the incident extremely tragic and said it has deeply shaken him.
Also present on the occasion were SGPC members Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke, Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, Akali leader Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Dharminder Singh Manochahal manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran and Gursewak Singh Sheikh, who accompanied the Jathedar to Kang village and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
