Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji to be celebrated on October 11, Nagar Kirtan to be organised on October 11

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) officials held a meeting with Mayor of Amritsar Municipal Corporation (MC), officials of civil and police administration, Amritsar, to discuss arrangements to be made on the occasion of Prakash Purb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, the fourth Sikh Guru.
Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, the founder of Amritsar city is being celebrated with devotion at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib on October 11, 2022. Before this, a large Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) will be organised from Sri Akal Takht Sahib on October 10, enroute the old gates of Amritsar and return to Akal Takht Sahib.
The SGPC officials held discussions with Mc and civil officials regarding the arrangements for Prakash Purb events and required cleanliness of city roads besides smooth traffic. 
Present in this meeting included SGPC member Surjit Singh Bhittewad, secretary Pratap Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Sulkhan Singh Bhangali, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu, SDM Mankanwal Singh Chahal, ADCP City Dr. Mehtab Singh, ACP Surinder Singh and other key officials.
On this occasion, SGPC member Surjit Singh Bhittewad said that it is a matter of pride for us to be a resident of Sri Amritsar, the city of the fourth Sikh Guru and it is our responsibility to keep the city clean on the occasion of the Guru's birth anniversary. He said that to celebrate this day in a memorable manner, the administration provides great support every year and this time also necessary arrangements will be made jointly. 
Meanwhile, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu said that the MC will perform its duties diligently and the SGPC will be supported at all levels. 
ADCP City Dr. Mehtab Singh said that
police administration will ensure that no inconvenience is faced on the occasion of Prakash Purb events. 
SGPC secretary Pratap Singh thanked the mayor and other officials for the assurance of cooperation. The dignitaries present on this occasion were honoured with Guru's blessing Siropao (robe of honour) and were given invitations regarding Prakash Purb. 
During this meeting, manager Baghel Singh, Sukhraj Singh, superintendent Malkeet Singh Beharwal, additional manager Nishan Singh, SHO Paramjit Singh, officials of MC and other departments were also present.
 
Details of Prakash Purb events:
Various events like every year regarding the Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji are being organised on October 11. SGPC assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas said that Nagar Kirtan will be organized from Akal Takht Sahib at 12 noon on October 10, which will end at Akal Takht Sahib after passing through the old gates of city Amritsar. Apart from this, on October 10 night, a Raag Darbar and Padtal Shabd Gayan Gurbani Kirtan Darbar will be held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall. On the day of Prakash Purb on October 11, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, grandeur will be decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib. Religious congregations will continue for 2 days at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall and a special poetry event will also be held. On October 11, Amrit Sanchar (initiated ceremony) will be distributed at Akal Takht Sahib. On the occasion of Prakash Purab, Deep Mala (lighting of earthen lamps) will be held at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and related Gurdwara Sahibs and fireworks will be set off after the recitation of evening prayers Rehras Sahib. He said that a series of Gurmat events dedicated to the Prakash Purb are already going on in different gurdwaras of Amritsar city from September 4, which will continue till October 9.
