Chandigarh - Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah proposed the establishment of a training institute at the Center of Excellence for training and laboratory testing facilities in forensic science, which will be set up on approximately 50 acres in Haryana. He said that the central government will make all arrangements for its establishment.
Sh. Amit Shah was speaking at the MoU signing ceremony between the Haryana government and the National Forensic Science University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for the establishment of the Center of Excellence in forensic science training and laboratory testing facilities for Chinhit Apradh cases in Panchkula today.
After the MoU signing ceremony, the Union Home Minister suggested that the Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh while planning for this center, should pay attention towards setting up a training institute. Additionally, a hostel should also be built so that police officers and judicial officers can be trained here, he proposed.
He said that this Center of Excellence will bring a radical change in the criminal justice system in Haryana in the coming days. Not only that, this center will also emerge as a major training center for Northern India.
Congratulating the people of Haryana on this occasion, Sh. Amit Shah said that the Haryana government has decided to scientifically enhance the criminal justice system by partnering with the National Forensic Science University. He said that the NFSU has currently established its campuses in 9 states, and the central cabinet has recently passed a proposal to expand its campuses to about 16 states.
Speaking on this occasion, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the conception of this center was envisioned in Surajkund in 2022, and today, through this MoU, this vision is being realized. He said that previously, there was only one forensic science lab in the state, but now four more are operational. With the establishment of the National Forensic Science University campus here, victims will be able to get justice swiftly, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh said that the establishment of this center will greatly benefit the criminal justice system. Often, due to the lack of resources, justice is delayed, but with the new technology, we will be able to provide swift justice to the victims. During the Chintan Shivir in Surajkund, the Union Home Minister envisioned the establishment of this campus, which is now becoming a reality. With the establishment of the National Forensic Science University, Haryana is taking the lead, and it will benefit the state, said Sh. Nayab Singh.
Vice Chancellor, National Forensic Science University, Dr. J.M Vyas, said that the establishment of this center will enhance Haryana's forensic capabilities, benefiting the entire criminal justice system. Under Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi's vision, the National Forensic Science University is helping to strengthen forensic capabilities in 92 countries. He said that Haryana has taken the initiative in this direction, and we are establishing a world-class lab here. He said that the university will provide technical support to expedite the resolution of pending cases.
Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N Prasad said that this world class centre would be the first of its kind where NFSU would bring State of the Art technology and training would be imparted to law officers and investigating officers in handling, gathering and presenting forensic evidence. Haryana Institute of Public Administration and Prosecution Department will collaborate with NFSU in setting up this Centre of Excellence which will give great impetus to training and as well as testing in forensics.
Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Director General of Police, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, Director General Prosecution, Sh. Sanjay Hooda, Director General HIPA, Smt. Chandralekha Mukherjee and other dignitaries and district administration officers also remained present on this occasion.
