MOHALI: People in Nayagaon area bought land as per the laws notified by Punjab govt, got their land registered, got the building plans passed, people have aadhar cards, bank accounts, ration cards and other identity cards with their residences mentioned as Nayagaon. Not only this, even the commercial properties have GST numbers issued in name of Nayagaon area, there are religious places. Now the notification of Punjab government's forest and widlide conservation about the Eco sensitive zone has left all in limbo with constant threat of demolition.
The senior Bharatiya Janta Party leader and chairman of the Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch Vineet Joshi said while addressing a public meeting in the area.
Joshi said that the governments are elected to represent people and bring prosperity not to bring disaster.
He promised the gathering that if people support his agitation, he would ensure that no ESZ existed around the Sukhna area, which hampers people's lives.
He expressed surprise that Punjab govt was overruling its own orders of 100 mts ESZ by extending it to 3 kms now.
Indian Wildlife Institute Dehradun, whose reports Supreme Court of India also validates, has put Sukhna wildlife sanctuary under category D for which ESZ upto 100 m is enough. Is Punjab govt above the Supreme Court validation, asked Joshi.
Joshi geared up Nayagaon residents to send their objections regarding 3 kms ESZ to the Punjab govenrment for which the Manch will also run a campaign.
He added that the municipal committee Nayagaon has stopped issuing power and water connections on the orders of the Punjab government and even the building plans are not being passed. He said that there was no court that had passed such orders. He added that in days to come he shall be exposing the officers of municipal committee Nayagaon.
Prominent among others participating in the rally included Municipal Councillor Surinder Babbal, Vinod Bindoliya, and Pramod Kumar, Mandal President BJP Nyagaon Joginder Pal Gujjar, Dist Gen Secretary Bhupinder Bhuppi.
