Chandigarh– The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has decided to nominate prominent advocate Parupkar Singh Ghumman as the party candidate for the Ludhiana West by election.
A decision to this effect was taken by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal after holding extensive discussions with senior party leaders as well as all leaders of Ludhiana, including all current and former municipal councilors of the city. It was the considered view that Mr Parupkar Ghumman should be given the party ticket for the by-election keeping in view his services to the party as well as people at large.
Mr Ghumman is a former President of the Ludhiana Bar Association and has also served as a member of the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council.
The SAD also announced a five-member publicity committee to provide able assistance to the party candidate during election campaigning. The Committee members are
Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Hira Singh Gabriya, Harish Rai Dhanda and Pritpal Singh Pali. Senior leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema has been appointed as Coordinator for the byelection campaign.
