Sultanpur Lodhi- A few days ago, at Secha village near Sultanpur Lodhi, Granthi Singh Jeet Singh and his elderly mother were seriously injured in an attack by some individuals. Taking immediate notice of the incident, the officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, visited them today at the Sultanpur Lodhi District Civil Hospital and inquired about their health.

The victim’s Sikh family informed the Jathedar that there is widespread drug trafficking in Secha village, and the Granthi Singh had stopped the accused individuals—who are allegedly involved in drug trafficking—from parking their vehicle within the premises of the Gurdwara. This led to the assault on the Granthi Singh and his mother.

Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj has called for strict action against the accused by the police administration. He stated that the Granthi Singh’s hair and turban were also disrespected during the attack, and therefore, action should also be taken under sections related to hurting religious sentiments. He assured the victim’s Sikh family that Sri Akal Takht Sahib would provide support at every level.

He further added that such incidents are not in line with Punjab’s cultural values, where Granthi Singhs of Gurdwaras are treated in such a manner. He emphasized the need to respect Granthi Singhs and ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Jathedar Gargajj also spoke with the Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora, urging him to ensure strict action against the accused. He also spoke with the doctor present at the hospital to ensure better medical treatment is provided to the victims.
