Asserting that Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) would never become a reality, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today avowed to make every sacrifice to protect the river waters of the state. Addressing a massive gathering during a state level function on the dedication of Temple cum Panorama complex at Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal (Ram Tirath) here today, the Chief Minister categorically stated that Punjab didn’t have a single drop of spare water for anyone. Emphasizing that water was basic ingredient of life and any such move to share the river waters of the state would be disastrous as it would turn Punjab into desert, he said that every Punjabi was ready to make any sacrifice for this cause. “Not only me but every Punjabi was duty bound to oppose this move and all of us should take pledge on this sacred place to protect the river waters of the state at any cost” added Mr. Badal.

Lashing out at the opening of Sukhbir Singh Badal’s Sukhvilas just two months ahead of the polls, the Punjab Congress has accused the Badals of brazenly promoting their interests while deliberately allowing various important Bills and Ordinances to go to the Governor with serious lacunae, leading to their rejection and giving a lie to the doles being dished out by the Akali government to various sections of the people.It charged the Badals with misleading and befooling the people with false announcements, without having any intention of ensuring their implementation. The entire drama of announcing sops for the people was clearly aimed at wooing voters ahead of the Assembly elections, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) leaders Jagmohan Singh Kang, Balbir Singh Sidhu and Deepinder Singh Dhillon said.

Punjab government permitted the construction of Metro Eco Green Resort, Pallanpur belonging to Badals family by violating the state policy regarding Eco Tourism and other norms and even by concealing various facts on files. With permission of state government, this land was diverted from reserved forest land for construction of Metro Eco Green Resort. Exposing these facts, RTI activist and Co-Convener of RTI Wing AAP Punjab Adv. Dinesh Chadha reveals that construction of this resort in illegal manner is against the environment norms and even against the rights of local area people and Kandi area residence. Chadha told that in the case put up by Punjab government to ministry of environment and forest government of India for diversion of this land from forest land it was mentioned that the land is flat agricultural field and no green tree is required to be felled for establishing resort.

Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that 'disarrayed and opportunist' people like former BJP MP Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu were good for nothing in public life.  Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan program in Lambi assembly segment here today, the Chief Minister, when asked to comment on probability of former BJP MP joining the Congress, said that Mr. Sidhu was non decisive in joining any party due to his vested interests. However, Mr. Badal said that people who have no stand on any issue was bound to go in political oblivion. He said that people of the state have strong disliking for opportunists and defectors, who backstab their mother party for sake of personal interests.
