Chandigarh, The 'tug-of-war' between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Home Minister Anil Vij has finally ended with the former taking over as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) portfolio.

As per a notification issued by the Chief Secretary on Wednesday, the portfolios of the CID and the departments of Personnel and Training and of Raj Bhawan Affairs have been allocated to the Chief Minister in addition to his existing portfolios.

Chandigarh, Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal on Thursday said 2,592 posts of Assistant Professor will be filled in government colleges across the state. After filling the posts, there will be no shortage of academic staff in the colleges, he said.

He said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has accorded approval for the creation of 2,592 new posts.

Chandigarh, A day after the Akali Dal, BJP's another alliance partner, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) led by Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, on Tuesday announced not to contest the assembly elections in Delhi, citing party symbol issue.

Chautala told the media that his party would not field candidates "as symbol is a very important issue and the JJP is unwilling to fight on a new symbol at such short notice".

Chandigarh, In a fresh tug-of-war in Haryana between Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Home Minister Anil Vij, the latter has asked the former to chargesheet and remove Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Anil Rao.

It is learnt on Tuesday that Vij, who is unhappy with Rao, has asked the Home Secretary to remove him for "inefficiency, insubordination and dereliction of duty".

Chandigarh, The Haryana Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a motion to ratify the 126th Constitutional Amendment to extend reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Punjab for another 10 years.

Moving a motion in the House, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said now the Rajya Sabha secretariat "is to be apprised with the ratification" made in this regard.

Indirectly hitting out at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Meham legislator Balraj Kundu said he has extended support to the Chief Minister for his clean credentials and not to "a person who is supporting the corrupt".

Police on Friday booked Kundu and his brother Shivraj Kundu for allegedly cheating Rohtak resident Narender Dhankhar.

Chandigarh, Most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on Thursday remained under dense fog cover throwing normal life out of gear even as the minimum temperatures settled below normal at several places in the region.

The Met forecast mild rains with foggy conditions in the morning and at night in both the state in the next 24 hours till Friday. The dense fog in the morning adversely affecting air, train and road traffic.

According to the India Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog likely at a few places in both the state on Friday and Saturday.

Chandigarh, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Monday said it has been decided to set up a narcotics bureau to curb drug abuse and drug peddling across the state.

He said the bureau would form a special framework to completely control drug peddling. Strict action would be initiated against those involved in drug trade and steps would be taken for the drug victims to overcome drug abuse, he said.
