A collection of poems performed at the Sawan Kavi Darbar in trilingual Poetry Festival

CHANDIGARH:  The Punjabi Writers' Association (Regd.) Chandigarh hosted a trio of poems at the Trilingual Poetry Darbar. While this poetry mehfil started with Saraswati Vandana, the word related to the seventh month was also recited.

Welcoming the entire Presidency and all the poets and listeners, Balkar Sidhu, President of the Punjabi Writers' Association, and others said that it was a great pleasure to re-organize the mehfil after the ban imposed during the Karona period. He appealed to the writers to keep the edge of their pens sharp and said that there was a need to create a poetic folk movement in the present age as well.

Gurnam Kanwar and others were felicitated by the Writers' Association with bouquets and the entire function was presided over by Gurnam Kanwar and others. In his presidential address, Gurnam Kanwar and others not only praised the poetry of the great poets involved in the mehfil but also encouraged new writers. He said that poets, poets, and writers were playing a vital role in creating awareness in all the peasant movements and other social movements in which the members of the Punjabi Writers' Association were also making their due contribution. Gurnam Kanwar and others congratulated the entire executive of the Sabha for creating the event and concluding it in a dignified manner. It may be recalled that Gurnam Kanwar and others presided over the function which was presided over by Balkar Sidhu, President of the House, Dr. Avtar Singh Patang, and General Secretary Deepak Sharma Chanarthal.

Surjit Singh Dheer, Sumesh, Balkar Sidhu, Darshan Trina, Gurdas Singh Das, and Labh Singh Lehli sang songs related to the morning at the Bhai Santokh Singh Memorial Hall. It was there that Karamjit Singh Bagga raised the pinnacle of the summer poetry mehfil. Shiromani poets Siriram Arash, Gurdeep Gul, Rashmi Sharma, and Malkiat Basra, and others added seriousness to the poetry mehfil by presenting poems related to family and culture. Similarly, while the poetry of Malkit Singh Nagra presented a unique color, the poetry of Gurnam Kanwar and others filled the hairy audience with excitement. Pal Ajnabi, Gurpreet Singh, Raj Kumar, Sevi Rait, Jagdeep Kaur Noorani, Darshan Singh Sidhu, Pralad Singh, Shair Bhatti, Gurdarshan Singh Mavi, and Paramjit Singh Param among others also graced the occasion with their poems.

Thanking all the poets, listeners and the Presidency, the Senior Vice President of the Sabha Dr. Avtar Singh Patang, and others said that the Sabha would continue to draw unique literary events in the years to come. On this occasion among others Harwinder Singh Kalra, Khushhal Singh Naga, Praveen Sandhu, Rajdeep Kaur Multani, Navjot Sandhu, Sanjivan Singh, Subhash Bhaskar, Raminderpal Singh, Lalji Lali, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Baldev Singh Saptrishi, Satveer Kaur, Mahinderpal Singh, Jasmine Kaur Sandhu, and retired Law. Colonel Bachittar Singh was also present. The proceedings of the entire function were graced by the General Secretary of the Sabha Deepak Sharma Chanarthal in a poetic manner.
