Congress and Akalis have cheated the people of Punjab on Syl issue

Congress and Akalis have cheated the people of Punjab on water issue for them is merely a political gimmick. Aapna Punjab Party takes a strong initiation to the hypocritical stand of the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal on the crucial issue of "Punjab Waters" as was pointed out by the party president Sucha Singh Chhotepur who questioned both the parties for their previous acts which went against the state and its people.

Addressing the media persons during a conference Chhotepur further stated that former Congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was behind the SYL pact which was duly signed by the then Congress  Chief Minister of Punjab Darbara Singh.  Similarly,  Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was the one who acquired the land for SYL canal and now both the parties are trying to cure the wounds caused by them but as it is rightly said, "The injury inflicted by you can't be cured by you...." Chhotepur added.

Congress and SAD have failed to act in favour of Punjab and Punjabis, instead acted on the dictates of their leaders in Delhi. However, both the parties repeatedly tried to raise this issue during elections round the corner but not for the larger interests of the state.

Pointing towards the Act of 2004, which was not viable from day one given the judicial scrutiny, the leaders of AAPNA PUNJAB PARTY stated that resignations of the Congress state president Capt Amarinder Singh along with his MLAs or the special assembly session called by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was nothing but another attempt to get the mileage in wake of 2017 elections.

Reiterating on the Aapna Punjab Party's stand to set the things moving in the right direction, Chhotepur revealed about the signature campaign across the state followed by a memorial to the president and a Communique to the Prime Minister to cancel the awards of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

"Most importantly, AAPNA PUNJAB PARTY will file a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court and plead for setting up of a tribunal and also to set aside all the executive decisions  taken on the issue till date as none of them was issued under any statute," AAPNA PUNJAB PARTY president went on to add.
