Badnore reviews law and order situation in chandigarh

Chandigarh Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore today presided over a high level meeting to review all aspects of crime including thefts, murders and snatchings in Chandigarh.Addressing the officers of Chandigarh Administration, Mr. Badnore said that effective interstate coordination was necessary in controlling the Crime in Chandigarh. The officers have also been directed to ensure Crime mapping for effective offense control. He laid stress to keep a constant vigil in order to avoid any untoward incident threatening the crucial law and order situation in the City.The Administrator has also directed the Police officers to take all possible steps to streamline the traffic within the City especially during the peak hours using all options including one way traffic. The Administrator has also asked the officers to ensure the filling up of all the vacancies in the Police department so that the staff crunch could not hamper the functioning of the police department.

Taking cognizance of the rising cyber crimes in Chandigarh, Mr. Badnore has asked the officers concerned to upgrade the Cyber Crime Cell. The Cell should be fully geared up and equipped with latest gadgets to check the crime instantaneously, said the Governor. There is a need for adopting innovative and latest related software technologies to improve our systems by equipping the staff managing the cell with professional skills, he added.

Taking stock of the installation of CCTV cameras on every light point, Mr. Badnore said that 24 hour uninterrupted surveillance was required. He has directed the officers to ensure that each and every CCTV camera installed was in working order.Reiterating his resolve to make Chandigarh crime free City, Mr. Badnore said that all possible steps using the latest techniques and technology, devising Special Operation Plans and effectively execution of the strategies would be ensured to make Chandigarh a safe and Crime Free City.

Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included Mr. M.P. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Mr. Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, Mr. Anurag Aggarwal, Home Secretary, Mr. Tajinder Singh Luthra DGP along with senior police officers of Chandigarh Administration.
