CM Virbhadra inaugurates Admn. block of Guru Gobind Singh College, Paonta Sahib

Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh along with his wife and former Member of Parliament Smt. Pratibha Singh, today inaugurated the College administrative block of Guru Gobind Singh Ji College in Paonta Sahib, in district Sirmaur constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.15 crore and also laid foundation stone of academic block to cost Rs. 4.16 crore. 

He also announced starting of MA classes in Economics and Hindi in College and said that the demand of introducing B.Sc in Bio-technology in the college would be considered sympathetically. 

He also announced Government Senior Secondary School, (Girls) will be upgraded  in facilities to be a  Model School. 

He said that it was not wise to change the name of any institution, the name of the College earlier was JawaharLal Nehru College. He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji was equally regarded and worshipped. But the name of the institutions once kept should not be changed. 

He said that the government was committed to provide quality education at the very door-step of the children and in this direction as many as 42 colleges were opened by the present government in the state and that too in remote and far flung areas. As of today, there were as many as 15500 schools and  116 colleges catering to the educational needs of the children of the state near to their homes. He said that Indian Institute of Management,(IIM) would soon be opened in Dhaulakuan Kuan in Sirmaur.

He also listed other major developments in field of education, Roads and Health in the State. 

The Chief Minister also inaugurated e-retail of vegetables and fruits at Paonta Sahib. It was the second town in the Country to have online retail facility. He said that this portal would facilitate both growers and consumers. 

He said that the e-portal will bring transparency and competitiveness in the market and growers would be able to fetch remunerative price for their produce. It would also help the farmers in selling their produce in National markets.
