Beijing, Nov 15 (IANS) – Tang Renjian, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in China, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) following a detailed investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision. Tang was found guilty of "serious violations" of party discipline and laws, as outlined in an official statement on Friday.
The investigation led to his dismissal from public office. Tang was also stripped of his membership in the 20th CPC Central Committee and disqualified as a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress. In September, China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee removed him from his position as agricultural minister.
The findings reveal that Tang failed to execute the CPC Central Committee's policies effectively in the agricultural sector and was accused of making "blind" decisions in poverty alleviation efforts. Allegations of moral corruption, greed, and misuse of power also surfaced. The investigation unearthed evidence of Tang leveraging his position for personal profit, facilitating enterprise operations, project contracting, and job placements in exchange for "extremely large amounts" of bribes and valuable items.
His illegal earnings will be confiscated, and his case has been forwarded to the procuratorate for further review and possible prosecution.
