Chandigarh – In a landmark moment for the Sikh community, the portrait of Lord Dr. Indarjit Singh, the first turbane Sikh parliamentarian in the UK and Europe, has been installed in the Bishop’s Corridor of the House of Lords at the British Parliament in Westminster, London.
This installation is the first time a Sikh’s portrait has adorned the walls of the British Parliament, signifying recognition of Lord Singh's immense contributions to public service and interfaith understanding in the UK.
The unveiling ceremony brought together notable figures, including British Sikh MPs Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Lord Kuldeep Singh Sahota, Jas Athwal, and MP Richard Bacon, among others. Lady Singh Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur OBE also attended, accompanied by family and friends.
