Moscow, Nov 26 (IANS) — A Moscow court has imposed a fine of 7 million rubles (approximately $67, 300) on the messaging platform Telegram for its refusal to delete content that is prohibited under Russian law, according to the court’s press service.
Telegram was found guilty of violating administrative regulations by not restricting access to certain information, though the court did not specify the nature of the prohibited content. This follows a similar case last month when Telegram was fined 4 million rubles for not complying with content restrictions.
With around 900 million subscribers worldwide, Telegram has become one of the leading messaging services, playing a particularly influential role within Russia.
